How To Start Your Own Herbal Garden

Herbs have lots of benefits. They are indispensable for cooking and they also make great home remedies for common illnesses. Instead of getting your herbs from the grocery store, why not start your own herbal garden and get your fresh supply from there?

Contrary to popular belief, starting a herbal garden is not that difficult. Here are some tips for you:

1. Know your herbs first.

During your free time, try to research more about herbs, how they grow, what medicinal properties they have, how you can use them for cooking and how long their usual life span is. Some herbs die during the winter season so you should consider switching the herbs you are going to plant for different seasons.

2. Allot a space in your garden for your herbs.

One corner of your garden can be reserved for your precious herbs. You can even place them close to outdoor  fountains. You can also make a plant tier to maximize space. A lot of people also use their backyard wall to plant their herbs. They just use the space to hang potted herbs. It really depends on how you want your garden to look like at the end of the project.

3. Get your herbs and additional tools for planting.

Gear up for some planting job. You should have your usual gardening tools ready. Pick your herbs and plant them in the desired location. Make sure you keep them slightly apart from each other so you won’t be confused.

4. Label your plants.

Create your own nice and attractive labels. You can actually buy some wooden labels from the arts and crafts store and just hand paint the markings. Place the labels in front of the array of herbs.

5. Tend to your garden.

Make sure you keep them alive by adding organic fertilizer and watering them. Get rid of weeds that might grow around them.
