Fresh Air Indoors – How To Maintain Fresh And Clean Air Indoors

If you think the only way you can get in close contact with pollutants is when you are outdoors, think again. Recent studies say that indoor air maybe ten times more polluted than outdoor air. This can be attributed to biological organisms thriving in rooms, smoke from cigarettes or tobacco, old and moldy furniture, pesticides and cleaning chemicals.

You don’t want to expose your kids to these indoor air pollutants. With that in mind, you might want to consider the following tips:

1. Use special home décor and ornaments which help keep the home clean and fresh.

You may add fresh potted plants inside the living room and some ornaments which make the indoors look more like a natural environment, such as indoor fountains and bamboo curtains.  Read our article, Why Use Indoor Fountains In Your Home?

2. Use an air filtration system if you have a household member with a sensitive condition.

If you have a child with asthma or a family member with respiratory problems, there is no better way to ensure safe and clean air indoors than by using an air filtration system. You can get a centralized unit or individual units which operate in every room.

3. Do not use home décor and furnishings with materials that can accumulate dirt, dust, or mold.

Carpets as well as furnishings and curtains made of cashmere or suede can easily accumulate foreign particles, especially dust. There are many alternative materials that you can use to replace them, such as rugs made of cotton, wooden furnishings, and mesh curtains.

4. Clean upholstery, mattress and furniture outside the house.

Make sure you carry them outside and clean them. Mattresses, particularly, are prone to toxic emissions. That is because most mattresses have been loaded with chemicals. If these get in contact with germs and micro organisms, they might emit toxic nerve gasses.

5. Use vacuum cleaner instead of broom.

Vacuum cleaners clean more than 90% of the air you breathe by sucking in minute pollutants and tiny dust particles. Read our article, Tips In Finding The Best Carpet Steam Cleaner.
