The prospect of designing kids’ room is a source of excitement to most parents. Many parents literally go crazy in purchasing random knick knacks for their kids’ room. Kids love colorful and out of the ordinary items. It piques their curiosity.
But if you are practical, you want to design kids’ room in such a way that it will still be suitable when they get older. Kids tend to outgrow their beds and their toys faster than expected. So here are some ways on how to design kids’ room that can still be suitable even after a few years:
- Look for a convertible bed. Babies can only use their cribs until they turn 3 or 4. Most of them can already sleep on a toddler bed or a day bed. Since cribs can be expensive, it will be more ideal to get a convertible bed. This comes with a whole set with the parts needed for conversion. Look for a bed that can be converted from a crib to a day bed to a full size bed. All you need is to change the mattress.
- Purchase more sensible furniture. Instead of buying small dressers or cabinets for your kid, buy the adult-sized ones. You can purchase a simple pine dresser to keep your kid’s clothes. Look for those without embellishments so you can personalize it to match your kid’s needs. You can paint the dresser or have it covered with a wallpaper with a nice print to it. It should give a youthful look to the dresser.
- Store kids toys in sensible wicker baskets. Wicker baskets work great in a pastel-colored room. They give off that youthful vibe. Aside from that, they can also be used to store toys and books. You can hide the baskets under the bed or on a wall shelf.
- Pick fun accessories for the room. Install wall plaques to motivate your kid to excel more and add more trophies and recognitions to the wall. While waiting, you can use the wall plaque to store action figures.
