3 Types of Flower Arrangements You Can Make At Home

Creating beautiful floral arrangements for your home can be a fun and satisfying past time. Many people find it fun to play around with pretty flowers and create arrangements that can be used to brighten up their homes. There are many types of flower arrangements you can make.

 Vertical Flower Arrangement

The main focus of this type of arrangement is the height. This is why you won’t need a lot of flowers to make a vertical flower arrangement. You can use a tall, slim vase or a wide squat one for this design. Measure the base of the vase and using florist’s foam, make a cut large enough to fit inside. Choose your focal point. You will want your focal flower to be almost twice your containers height. Once you’ve secured your focal flower add in about three smaller flowers of different heights. Then complete it with foliage and greens at the base.

 Horizontal Flower Arrangement

This type of arrangement is most suited to adorn center tables. For this arrangement, a shallow container is used. This is easy to make because a single flower is used as the center point. Flower branches or drooping foliage are then added to complement each side. Smaller flowers can be used to fill out the spaces and set off the large flower in the middle. To stabilize it use anchor foams or pins.

 Crescent Flower Arrangement

The crescent flower arrangement is called as such because it is patterned after the crescent moon. For this reason flowers with bendable stems such as carnations are used. There are three parts to this arrangement. Part A is the big end that curves upward. Part B is the small end that trails downward. And Part C is the middle. Part A is usually done first as this sets the size for your entire arrangement. Once this is done you can complete Part B and then Part C.

There are many other types of flower arrangements you can make. But these are the most basic. You can practice this at home with your kids. It may seem a bit challenging at first but you’ll find that the more you do it, the easier it becomes.
