10 Tips For A Better Kitchen

The kitchen is where you prepare your food for your nourishment.  If it is dirty and untidy then this is an environment where germs can thrive.  If you keep it cleansed, hygienic coupled with the right decoration and arrangement then this can be reflected in your health and countenance.  Here are a few tips for a better kitchen.

1. Stay with lighter tile colors.  While dark colors can provide that elegant look, it may not be appropriate for everyday use.  Washing can leave soap residue.  This residue is very visible on dark colors.   If you like to build your biceps trying to scrub the stains then this may be good for your fitness regimen.

2.  Indoor fountain or plants in your kitchen can help provide that touch of nature.  They are wonderful decorative pieces, but they also clean pollutants and provide that feeling of freshness.  Make sure to water and take care of the plants so that they won’t wilt and die.

3.  If you have glass cabinets, you can display your more elegant cookware and utensils on the front end.  The everyday use utensils can be placed on the bottom or behind.  Just make sure that they are easy to grab so as not to sacrifice comfort.

4.  If you have shelves or counter tops you can have a modest display of cook books.  They can be really attractive.  They also help the cook prepare that sumptuous meal as it is easy to grab and read if it is within reach.

5.  If you have a tall refrigerator, make sure that it is clear.  Dust will surely accumulate on the top and it is generally harder to clean if you have many pieces there.  Accumulation of dust can be quite unsanitary.

6.  Place a mirror on the opposite side of the window.  This can brighten the room thru the reflection of light as well as make it appear larger.

8.  Make sure that there is balance in your kitchen counter.  If you fill it with your entire appliances then it will look cluttered.  On the other, if you keep everything stored in cabinets then it will be cumbersome as well as consume time to take it out and store it back every single day.  Equipments that are used everyday can be made visible on the counter top.

9.  Organize your cabinets and counter tops.  They can be clustered according to their use and function.  Place equipment that requires electricity near the outlet.  Place your knives in a drawer where it can’t be easily accessed by your toddlers.  Make sure that all breakables are grouped together.

10. You can play with the kitchen lighting.  This is a wonderful way to set the right mood as well as make the food appear more sumptuous.  If you happen to go for midnight snacks then it is also convenient.  There are many table top lightings that are decorative and elegant.  For more tips on choosing lighting read How To Choose the Right Lighting For Your Home.
